The evening will begin with cocktails and a tour of our latest exhibition, POWERFUL yet FRAGILE: Connecticut’s Waterways, featuring images by the Women Photographers of Connecticut collective.
A native of Mexico City who has been influenced by all culinary corners of the world, Carlos Baez honed his “farm-to-fork” approach at Napa & Co. in Stamford and is now earning accolades for his ever-evolving menu at The Spread in South Norwalk. Following a move to the U.S. in 2000, Carlos landed a position at Seaside Johnny’s in Rye, N.Y., where he spent seven years honing his expertise with all varieties of fresh fish. His next stop was in the fast-paced kitchen of La Panetière, a contemporary French restaurant in Rye. Then came the opportunity to serve as Chef de Cuisine at Napa & Co. in Stamford.
It was there that Carlos perfected all the tools necessary to lead him to his current position as Executive Chef at The Spread in South Norwalk. Rave reviews from food critics and bloggers, not to mention a highly touted appearance on the Food Network’s “Beat Bobby Flay,” have earned Carlos a devoted following among local foodies. A Connecticut Magazine Reader’s Poll cited his to be the Best Apps in the state, helping The Spread to win the award for Best New Restaurant and a second-place nod for Overall Excellence.
“I want my foods to be authentic, with a little of my own touch.”
